Things To Do
Zaveri Bazaar
It seems as though every major bazaar in Mumbai is located in the area known as South Mumbai. Colaba Causeway, Crawford Market, the Chor Bazaar, etc, are all located in South Mumbai, and so is another famous destination known as Zaveri Bazaar. Located in the Bhuleshwar region of South Mumbai, the Zaveri Bazaar is the number one place to go in Mumbai if you want to get your hands on jewelry, from average to fine. This bazaar in particular draws in huge numbers of visitors every year who are in hopes of getting a priceless piece of jewelry for a cheaper price than anywhere else.
Zaveri Bazaar basically consists of numerous aisles that are littered with a variety of different jewelry vendors, selling everything from platinum to gold. There are no excuses when it comes to actually getting to the bazaar as just about any Mumbai local will know of the bazaar. Not only that, but there are a number of different ways to reach the bazaar, such as by a city bus, a taxi, a rental or hired car, and even by train. Indeed, this is one of those places in Mumbai that you just need to visit before you leave, especially if you have that special someone in your life that deserves a nice piece of jewelry.
Speaking of jewelry, the Zaveri Bazaar can gloat that it is home to the largest retailer of jewelry in all if India. Just about any precious metal or gem that one can think of, is probably sold at the Zaveri Bazaar, and is probably a commonly sold item at that. Gold is the number one item sold at the bazaar, but there are also ornaments, toys, and other various decorations made of gold and other precious metals for sale here as well. If you are really looking for a treat, then check out Zaveri Bazaar during the celebration of Diwali, where illuminations are abundant throughout the bazaar area.
