Mumbai Airport
Even during its origins as a trading port, Mumbai has always been a truly essential city in India. Every year, thousands upon thousands of visitors flock to the bustling metropolitan city for a number a different reasons. The main gateway into Mumbai is by air, where visitors will descend into Mumbai's airport, which is popularly known as Mumbai Airport, Bombay Airport, and Sahar Airport, but is officially known as Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport.

Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport is one of the most influential airports in India, as well as the whole South Asian area. The airport was traditionally two separate airports; the Sahar Airport, which was mainly used for international traffic, and the Santa Cruz airport which was intended for all of the domestic traffic. However, the two airports were eventually made into one main airport, and is now Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. This large airport spans an area of more than 1,400 acres, which is essential for the five terminals and well over 20 million passengers that come in through there. Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport is not only responsible for a massive amount of passenger traffic every year, but also a very large amount of cargo as well.

Some of the main features of Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport include more than 3,000 parking spaces for cars, close to 200 check-in counters, and almost 20 different boarding bridges for passengers. In the works though, are massive expansion projects to increase the number of parking spaces, boarding bridges, check-in counters, aircraft stands, and more. The expansion, once completed, is estimated to cost around $2 billion. As mentioned earlier, there are five terminals in operation at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. The airport stands four stories tall and to keep up with the constant changes in technology, the airport also offers free Wi-Fi to all of its visitors.
