Kala Ghoda Festival
Mumbai is probably one of the most diverse cities in India, bringing together so many different cultures, foods, ethnicities, and festivals. Venturing into South Mumbai, in the area known as Kala Ghoda, one such festival takes place every year. This festival, most obviously, is known as the Kala Ghoda Festival; some people referring to it as the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival. Many people, from locals to tourists, visit the Kala Ghoda region of Mumbai every year just to visit this famous festival. Every year, the festival is a huge success, thanks to the efforts of a non-profit organization that helps to upgrade the Kala Ghoda region.
The Kala Ghoda area does have an art district, and so naturally, the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival takes place in that district every year. The festival has always been popular, but as each and every year passes, the festival grows even larger. In fact, the festival has grown so large and popular that it is divided into different sub-divisions. For example, some of the sub-divisions or mini-festivals include a dancing division, visual arts division, cinema division, lecture division, and so on and so forth. Essentially, if one can make a performance at it, it can be done in one of the sub-divisions in the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival.
Ultimately though, the festival is just one large, distinct, and colorful celebration in the streets of South Mumbai. What is also great about the festival is that anyone can enter into the festival and perform absolutely free of charge. That aspect plays a huge role in the growth and popularity of the Kala Ghoda Festival. Lastly, just like most any festival or celebration, the streets of the Kala Ghoda Festival are lined with vendors, merchants, and other stands, throughout the entire nine days that the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival usually lasts.
