One would think that the Mumbai beaches would be on the outskirts of Mumbai; However, Chowpatty Beach is located right in the center most part of the metropolis city. Chowpatty beach is located near two of the most prestigious residential areas in Mumbai, which are Malabar Hill and Marine Drive. On any given day you can find different groups of people at the beach; especially those of the religious nature. Naturally though, the beach is probably most popular with the kids who are always seeking a good time at the beach.

Given the popularity of this beach in Mumbai, it comes as a surprise that the beach is pretty desolate throughout the daytime hours. However, you will still find people frolicking about the beach, playing in the water, relaxing in the sun, or even taking a break under the beach's many trees. At night though, Chowpatty Beach comes alive, with people coming in from all over, making the beach look more like a carnival than a beach.

As night sets upon Chowpatty Beach, the shrill screams of children playing can be heard, and quite loudly at that. The beach lights up with the sight of a Ferris wheel trafficking kids around and around, as well as all kinds of other amusements. It truly would be hard to tell the beach from that of a carnival. Food stands and vendors line up all over the beach ready to market themselves to absolutely anybody that comes along. One might even get lucky and see the Bollywood side of Mumbai, as sometimes Chowpatty beach becomes a scene for one of the many movies that is churned out of Mumbai, or should we say, Film City.
