Siddhivinayak Temple
Siddhivinayak Temple
Looking merely at the word "Siddhivinayak," one might become discouraged; however, Siddhivinayak Temple has had its name greatly cut down. The actual term for the temple is the Shree Siddhivinayak Ganapati Mandir. The entire temple was built with the purpose of worshipping Ganesh, the God of Destruction in the Hindu faith. The temple is located in Mumbai, but more specifically, it is located in the area called Prabhadevi. Siddhivinayak Temple is most defiantly one of the wealthier of the Mumbai temples, although one would not be able to tell just by looking at the surrounding area.

The temple has definitely seen its fair share of Mumbai's interesting and diverse history, being more than two centuries old. The original temple was built more than 200 years ago in November of 1801. Siddhivinayak Temple would not be standing if it was not for the efforts of the temple's builders, who were Deubai Patil and Laxman Vithu. These two individuals probably never expected the temple to grow into what is has today, as during the origins of Siddhivinayak Temple; it was merely a small structure for worship. Throughout the years, however, the temple has grown tremendously and is now the wealthiest temple in all of Mumbai, receiving massive donations every year.

Siddhivinayak Temple is most obviously a religious landmark rather than a tourist attraction; however, it never fails to draw in vast amounts of visitors every year who just want to see the splendor of the Grand Temple. Prayer occurs every morning during the earliest hours of the morning. Naturally, most of the intricate details that make up the temple are dedicated to Ganesh. Different activities are held at Siddhivinayak Temple throughout the year, so if one is planning a visit to Mumbai, the he or she should definitely check to see what is going on at the temple.
