Mumbai India
Nestled perfectly on the western coast of India, is the massive, bustling metropolis that is now known as Mumbai. Mumbai is a historical city in India's vibrant history, being ruled by a number of different groups, from Islam to Portugal. In fact, Mumbai has just recently changed its name from Bombay to Mumbai. If one is looking for a destination that truly combines a multitude of different cultures, and literally has something for everyone, then Mumbai is definitely worth checking out. Mumbai boasts busy streets filled with different shops, vendors, and eateries, as well as an extraordinary amount of attractions.

Let's start by building a foundation, beginning with the basics. To start with, Mumbai lies in the Indian state of Maharashtra and is actually the capitol too. India can credit Mumbai with having the largest population of the entire country, with the bulk of the population speaking the official language of Marathi. Since India is predominantly a Hindu country, it should come as no surprise that Hinduism is the most followed religion in Mumbai, with the second most followed faith being Islam. However, diversity runs rampant in Mumbai, with many other religions flourishing throughout the city such as Jainism, Sikhism, Buddhism, Christianity, etc.

Also, as mentioned previously, Mumbai is home to a great deal of different attractions, tickling the interests of the young, the old, and everywhere in between. Since 1970, Mumbai has gained the name of "Film City" and "Bollywood," in reference to the popularity and success of the film industry in Mumbai. The Gateway of India is not only the scene of many different movies, but it is also a historical landmark built for King George V and Queen Mary. There is also Elephanta Island, wealthy residential areas, many museums, and more.

Another thing that Mumbai is famous for, which also makes the city very diverse, is the many festivals and celebrations that occur every year. Mumbai hosts festivals that celebrate historical aspects, festivals for music, movies, festivals for Hindus, and other religions. These celebrations draw in a large number of tourists and visitors every year and really drive the Mumbai economy.

For those seeking a wonderful, unique trip or vacation, Mumbai is probably the best contender.
